The Founder/Chairman of the Ben Akak Foundation, Engr Ben Akak has explained why his foundation has enrolled at least 500 rural dwellers in Cross River State in the Ayade Health Insurance Scheme also known as Ayade Care.

After the enrolment beneficiaries of the scheme would no longer pay from their pockets to access healthcare in the state.

Speaking at the ceremony of the second phase in support of Governor Ben Ayade Health Insurance Scheme, Akak said that health is wealth, adding that with good health, all the good things of life could be achieved.

“What I am doing right now is to achieve quality healthcare for our people as almost everyone is striving towards achieving universal adult health coverage where everyone is not supposed to pay out of their pockets to get their health restored.

“Health they say is wealth, with good health a lot can be achieved in this state. When the people are healthy the state is sure of having a good labour force.

“When a labour force is in order, everyone is bound to contribute his or her quota towards the development and growth of the state and the nation at large,” he said.

Akak called on the people to support Governor Ayade to enable him finish strong at the end of his tenure next year.

Also, the foundation commissioned a multi-million naira water project at Hewett Street near Watt market for traders to have easy access to potable water.

Explaining why he decided to provide water in Hewett community, Akak said, “Water they say is life. Without water what can you do?

“Eighty percent of sicknesses dealing with our people is attributed to bad water. It’s the reason why I felt giving the people good water would be ideal.”
