Man, 71, Burgles Boutique & Carts Away N2.8m Ladies Wears

A 71-year old man, Ajisafe Suleman Adeniyi, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly breaking into a boutique  through the wall at night and carted away ladies wears including cash worth N2.8m belonging to a woman, Evan Akere.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 1st June,2025 at plot 80 Oguninusi Road, Ojodu Berger, Lagos where the suspect broke into the shop and stole the items.
He was arrested and charged before Court for the alleged burglary and stealing under the Criminal law of the State and remanded in custody over his alleged conduct against the complainant.
According to the Police, the suspect went to the shop at night when the owner had left, burgled the shop with an object through the wall, stole the items and escaped.
However, when the complainant saw what happened in the morning, she went to the Police at Ojodu Division and reported the matter.
The Police moved into action, arrested the suspect based on intelligence information and detained him at the station for interrogation over the missing items.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
COUNT 1: “That you, Ajisafe Suleman Adeniyi ‘M’ on the 1st of June, 2025, at about 0830hrs at Plot 80 Ogunnusi Road, Ojodu Berger, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial district, did break into the shop of one Evan Akere ‘F’ and one Okechukwu Njoku ‘A’ through the wall, without their consent and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 307 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT 11: “That you, Ajisafe Suleman Adeniy. ‘M’ on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial district, did enter into a shop belonging to one Evan Akere ‘F’ through the broken wall with intent to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 208 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT 111: “That you, Ajisafe Suleman Adeniyi ‘M’ on the same date, time and place in the mentioned Magisterial district, did steal ladies wears valued Two Million Two Hundred and Thousand Naira (N2,210,000.00) property of one Evan Akere ‘F’ and cash sum of Six Hundred and Naira (N600,000.00) property of one Okechukwu Njoku ‘M’ in their respective shops and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
