A 75-year old man, Steve Osemo, has been arrested in Lagos State for allegedly recruiting himself into the Nigeria Police Force after he made uniform and moved to the road to extort money from motorists.

The suspect, Osemo reportedly told the Police upon his arrest that he recruited himself into the Nigeria Police and subsequently moved to the road to control traffic and exort money from motorists like other Police officers in the area.

P.M.EXPRESS reports Pa Osemo was apprehended by the Police operatives from Denton Division with a Police uniform at Oyinbo garage while he was extorting money from motorists before he was eventually caught and taken to the station.

During interrogation at the Police Station, he reportedly claimed that he volunteered and joined the Nigeria Police by going to an undisclosed tailor and sewing the uniform before he began work.

He said he had worked in different areas before he went to the garage to work as a Police officer in order to collect money  as other Police officers in the area usually do.
He was asked to know when he joined the Nigeria Police Force and who recruited him; he reportedly replied that he recruited himself into the job for a  very long time and has been in it before he went to the garage to control traffic at the same time collect some money from motorists in order to maintain peace and order in the area.

The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ebute Meta Magistrates Court for impersonation and extortion.

The matter was initially brought before Court 1 Ebutte Meta before it was referred to Court 10 where he is facing the charges against him. He was remanded in custody pending when he would perfect his bail conditions.
