The non-indigene members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Lagos State led by their amiable Chairperson,  Chief (Mrs.) Kate Onyechere, on Monday had a crucial meeting, where they mapped out strategies on how to dislodge the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the meeting was held at Ikeja, Lagos, where hundreds of the non indigenes converged and took divisive decisions for the group’s participation in the forthcoming electoral process for 2023 based on their numerical strength in Lagos State.

The members comprise of all the states in the Eastern and Southern parts of Nigeria and Arewa community, who live in Lagos State and came together to pursue a common cause.

During the meeting, which was well attended by some key stakeholders, the Chairperson of the group, Chief Mrs. Kate Onyechere, stated that the essence of the meeting was to bring all the non-indigenes together in order to work and to speak with one voice.

She noted that in the past, non-indigenes have been taken for granted despite their population; they were not considered to take some elective positions and to that effect, they will now participate in the election process by supporting non-indigenes and indigenes, who recognize the group and declare interest in elective positions across the State.

“We will not allow to be taken for granted any more and henceforth, will work to take over the leadership of the State by mass mobilization of members to vote for non-indigenous candidates contesting for various positions in the State” she stated.

Part of the decisions at the meeting included: *To encourage and support non-indigenes who declare interest to contest for elective positions in the State from PDP primary to the general elections for 2023. *To encourage members to get their PVCs for voting during elections and to seek for elective positions from Ward, Local Governments to State including mobilization of members to vote for non-indigenes across the state.

During the meeting, the leader of the PDP Southeast Congress, Chief Felix Orakwue, commended the Chairperson and General Secretary of non-indigenes, for their efforts to positions the non-indigenes since they took over the leadership in the State.

He presented an award of recognition to the two leaders, which was the climax of the meeting with others members commending the leadership for what they are doing to position non-indigenes in the scheme of things in the State.
