The court has ordered a suspect, Mr. Folarin Dauda, to be remanded in prison custody after he was caught and subsequently arrested for defiling a four-year old girl in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Otunba Samson Street in Ago Palace Way area in Okota, Lagos where they resided.
The residents had expressed shocked over the incident and wondered what would have led the suspect to try such a thing on the little girl.
The parents of the victim were said to be afraid that Dauda’s motive of defiling the little girl might not be for sexual satisfaction since the victim cannot offer that because of her age. They suspected that the act might be for ritual purposes and wanted a thorough investigation conducted in order to be sure of the safety of the little girl.
It was gathered that the suspect lured the victim into his apartment, removed her pant and defiled her before he was eventually caught. The matter was reported to the Gender Section of the Police Command and Mr. Dauda was arrested for interrogation. He denied doing so but the little victim countered him and explained how it all happened before the police.
He was found culpable and charged before the Ogba Magistrates court for defilement.
The prosecutor, Mr. Christopher Donny, asked the court to use its discretion if the court considered granting the defendant bail.
However, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, denied him bail. The court ordered that he be remanded in prison custody and directed the prosecutor to send the file to DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 13th August, 2018, for the report of the DPP to be available.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that if the defendant was found culpable, tried and found guilty, he may be handed up to 10 years imprisonment for the alleged offence.
