33-year old Ogunleye Samuel has been arrested for his alleged involvement over an attempt to burn down a police station over alleged corruption of officers in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ijora Police Division where Samuel reportedly mobilised other youths and invaded the station with some petrol to carry out arson.
However, the police mobilized, repelled the protesting youths and sent them away. Samuel was then arrested and the matter was transferred to the State Criminal and Investigation Department, Panti,Yaba for further investigations.
The police found Samuel culpable and charged him before Ikeja Magistrates court for the alleged offence.
It was gathered that the youths and some police officers had altercation over the criminal activities going on there to the extent that it resulted to confrontation.
After that, Samuel was said to have led the youths now at large to burn down the police station before the police dispersed them and later arrested Samuel.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr Benson did not object his bail condition as the offence was said to be bailable.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.Sule-Amzat granted Samuel bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 4 June, 2018.
