A 30-year old man, Idris Daira has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly targeting his neighbour, Mohammed Lawal and attempting to cut off his head with cutlass.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the victim narrowly escaped after Daira had succeeded in inflicting deep injury on his neck.
The incident happened at Abrishade Street in Lawanson area of Surulere in Lagos where they reside.
Their neighbours expressed shock and wondered what would have moved Daira to take such negative decision to cut Lawal’s head with machete.
It was gathered that the suspect and the victim had been known as sworn enemies that never agreed on anything in the compound.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that on the day the incident happened, that they had disagreement in the morning which prompted Daira to come back in the evening earlier than he used to and waited for him with the cutlass.
The victim was said to be lucky as he sensed danger and looked behind, but by then Daira had attacked, injured him and he was taken to the hospital.
The matter was reported to the police and Daira was arrested and charged before Isolo Magistrates court for assault.
He pleaded not guilty.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspect was granted bail by the presiding Magistrate, Mr A.O. Ogbe but ordered the prosecutor, Mr Oje Uagbale to send his file for DPP advice.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when the DPP advice will be ready.
