A 31-year old man, Ayo-Olubiyo Kingsley who reportedly tongue lashed police officers by calling them thieves publicly has been arrested for his alleged utterances in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Kingsley’s journey to prison started after a team of police officers on patrol accosted him along Agege Motor Road in Mushin, Lagos with unregistered Toyota Camry Car for routine check. He was said to have resisted the check, put off the engine, took away the car key and rained abuses on the officers that they were thieves in uniforms.
However, the officers did not take the insult lightly, so they arrested him immediately and detained him at the police station for him to explain how they were thieves.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that Kingsley was unable to prove that the officers in question were thieves as he claimed.
His vehicle was impounded as exhibit at the police station. Kingsley was charged before Isolo Magistrates court for the assault and obstruction of police officers on lawful duty.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Adedayo granted Kingsley bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
However, Kingsley could not meet the bail condition and was remanded in prison custody.
The matter was adjourned till 5 February, 2018.
