A 41-year old man, Agbarandu Sunday has landed in trouble in Lagos after he vented his anger on his friend, Ede Chinedu by using a stone to crush his mouth over N15,000 he borrowed from him.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ago Palace Way in Okota, Lagos where they resided.
It was gathered that Sunday had borrowed N15, 000 from Chinedu with the promise to refund it on a certain date. However, when the period Sunday promised to refund the money elapsed, Mr. Chinedu demanded for his money to no avail.
On the day the incident happened, it was gathered that Chinedu demanded for his money and Sunday warned him not to use his mouth to ask for the money again. The victim thought that Sunday was not serious about the threat and further made the demand for his money and he was given a surprise attack.
According to police, Sunday took a stone and hit on Chinedu’s mouth giving him serious injuries in the process. He bled profusely and was taken to a hospital for treatment, while the assault was reported to the Isolo Police Division. The suspect was then arrested and taken to the police station.
He was later charged before the Isolo Magistrates court for the alleged offence and he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mrs. Rita Momah did not object to Sunday’s bail but asked the court to give short adjournment for the trial.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kobenje granted Sunday bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 5 May, 2018.
