The police at State Investigation Bureau Department, SIB, have arrested a man, Olumide Kehinde Moses, for allegedly defrauding and subjecting his lover (a medical doctor) to inhuman treatment by cutting off part of her tongue and using her pant for money ritual in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Bello Fini Street, Grammar School, Agbele in Ikorodu area of Lagos.

The victim, Dr. Rachael Godwin, at the moment cannot speak properly as a result of injury she sustained and had lost all her money after she fell into Moses’ trap, suspected to be an online scammer.

An embittered Rachael said that after she met Moses, her life turned upside down because he allegedly hypnotized, commanded and obtained N4.8m from her under false pretence. She narrated that when money was not forthcoming from her any longer; he reportedly collected her pant, took it to an herbalist and thereafter forced her to wear it which made her to lose consciousness before she was later healed.

Narrating her ordeal, Dr. Raphael said that she was still shocked over what happened to her which ruined her career as Staff of Orthopedic Hospital in Igbobi, Lagos, as a qualified physiotherapist. She said he met Moses at the Ikeja area of Lagos, they got engaged in a discussion and in the process he discovered that she was a medical doctor and became more interested. Rachael said after the encounter with Moses, she did not know what came over her as she practically took over all his responsibilities and lodged him in a hotel for four months and later brought him to her house because he was reportedly homeless. She said it was when she brought him to her house that he planned with one Helen to waste her life by cutting her tongue, making run mad and taking over her properties.

The police arrested Moses following a petition written to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Zubairu Muazu, by Rachael’s solicitors (Sharon of Grace chambers) on behalf of Rachael dated 26th February, 2019. Moses was detained at the State Command where he was undergoing interrogation over the allegations against him.

When our correspondent visited the State Police Command, Moses was seen writing his statement but the P.M.EXPRESS reporter was not allowed to speak with him.

P.M.EXPRESS scooped that Moses admitted that Rachael was his lover and he had collected some money from her as he had already proposed to get married to her. She was said to have accepted his proposal which prompted her to bring him to her house. The victim, Rachael, hails from Delta State and graduated from the University of Ibadan before she started working at Igbobi Hospital and met Moses who hails from Oyo State and was said to be jobless before he met her.

“I met him in a BRT bus heading to Ikeja from Ikorodu. On that day, he directed me on how to get to the Police Headquarters during which we exchanged mobile numbers. We kept in touch for a while and he later told me he had gonorrhea and I treated him. We became close and then lovers. I guess he must have hypnotized me such that I really didn’t know what I was doing again. I gave him my entire savings. He even lodged in a hotel at Ketu for four months and I paid the N185,000 bill.
He later took me to his father at Ikosi. They live in a very unhealthy environment, for which I pitied them and offered to help. I rented an apartment for myself in November, 2018 and he visited me there same month. On December 12, 2018, when he visited me he said he wanted to buy a Toyota Venza. I asked him how much and he said it was N11.8 million. I asked him how he would raise that kind of money and he said we should open a joint account. I used the documents of a property I had to obtain a loan and even promised him I’d gather all I had from my bank account.
“My trouble started on December 14, 2018, when he came to my house and gave me one of my panties to wear. I told him I wouldn’t want to wear the panties because I was not comfortable in it. He then called a neighbour called Helen who helped him to force me to wear the panties. After wearing the panties, I ran mad. I was taken to my mother’s house and later to Ibadan for treatment where I became better.
“Somehow, I did not suspect him and I still kept relating with him. On December 31, 2018, when I went to a church for thanksgiving, I was given some prayers to say every midnight. He joined me in my apartment during that period. While I was praying this January, Olumide started shouting,‘Stop praying, they have wired the money. It is only $2000 from Alaska in USA’.
In his confessional statement, Olumide said that he actually received some money from Alaska, USA, but was shocked to discover the $2000 only mounted to N750,000. He also said he gave Helen, the alleged accomplice, the sum of N300,000.
Police investigation on the matter is ongoing, while the suspect is being detained in police custody.
