P.M.EXPRESS gathered the shout of thief by Ezekiel attracted other residents who descended and attempted to mob him before the police intervened and rescued him.
The incident happened in the morning at Agodo, Egbe in the suburb of Lagos. P.M.EXPRESS gathered that this happened after Mukaila reportedly had disagreement with Ezekiel in the area.
Our correspondent gathered that the complainant and the suspects who are living in the neighbourhood had a disagreement that morning before they dispersed.
However, when they later met in the street in Agodo area, Ezekiel shouted and called Mukaila Ole(thief) and the word drew the attention of the residents who had earlier suffered robbery attacks.

The residents who heard the allegation gathered and started beating him to the extent that they wanted to lynch him with wooden planks before the police patrol team rescued him and took him to the station.
It was at the Station that it was discovered that Mukaila was not a thief and the allegation was falsely used by Ezekiel to deal with him.
The police then arrested Ezekiel and charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court with assault and conduct likely to cause breach of public peace.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ezekiel was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.
The matter was adjourned till 14 June 2017.

When our correspondent contacted the suspect, he said that he never knew that it would get to the extent that Mukaila would be attacked by the angry residents who are still grieving over previous armed robbery attacks.
