Police operatives from Delta State Command have rescued a 26-year old man, Peter Okologo, who reportedly went to his girlfriend’s house for sex, got kidnapped by armed men and taken away for ransom.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adafe Bright, on behalf of the Delta State Commissioner of Police.
He stated that on 24th April, 2021, at about 1000hrs, a complaint was received by the DPO ‘A’ Division Warri, CSP T.Y. Mahmud that on 23rd April, 2021, at 2100hrs that while the complainant was with her boyfriend, Peter Okologo, he was kidnapped.
The victim, who is a resident of Nigercat Ekpan in Uvwie Local Government Area, suffered his fate after one Ejiro John, 25, of Ogbori Community in Warri, led a group of armed men, some of them were alleged to be on military uniforms with guns and other weapons, stormed the house and whisked Okologo away after firing gun shots and was taken to an unknown destination.
DSP Bright stated that on the strength of the report, the DPO ‘A’ Division Warri, CSP T.Y Mahmud, mobilized rapid respond team from the Division and swung into action immediately.
During the operation, they arrested another suspect one kingsley Omagbemi, 25. Both of them were the ones who led the kidnappers to the house where the victim was kidnapped.
The Police visited the scene and recovered three empty shells. After thorough investigation and interrogation, the two suspects led the Police team to Sapele, where the DPO Sapele Division, CSP Harrison Nwabuisi, also mobilized men from Sapele Division and joined forces with men of ‘A’ Division Warri, where one David Isaac Mojo, 32, of No. 12 Akintola Street, Sapele, was arrested at the kidnappers den.
The said David Isaac Mojo was already demanding the sum of one million Naira as ransom. He was arrested as he came out to collect the said ransom, while one Alason ‘m’ surname unknown, escaped with a black Toyota Camry with unknown registration number. The kidnapped victim was then rescued by the Police.
Bright said that the suspects were in Police custody while investigation is in progress with a view to arrest the other fleeing members of the gang.
The Commissioner of Police has also urged all officers and men in the state to keep the tempo up, because if the tempo can be sustained, Delta State will definitely be crime free which is the mandate given to him by the Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba.
