A 32-year old man, John Joseph, has been arrested after he reportedly confused a 15-year old girl and engaged her in sex romp after sucking her breasts and getting her aroused.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Felix Street by Ijegamo Road, Ijegun area of Lagos, where they reside.
The suspect, Joseph, is now facing the charge of defilement which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before Court for the alleged offence.
It was gathered that Joseph lured the victim into his apartment, confused her with words of mouth, then fondled her breasts before he sucked them and the victim got more confused.
He reportedly removed her pant and penetrated her to his satisfaction before he allowed her to go.
However, the victim reportedly regained her senses and discovered that she was raped. She told her parents what happened and the matter was reported to the Police. Joseph was arrested over the alleged offence.
He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation. While there, the suspect reportedly admitted that he had normal sex with her contrary to the victim’s claims that she was raped.
The victim reportedly told the Police that she never consented to the act and claimed that she was confused and lured into the act without her consent.
The Police found Joseph culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O Sule-Amzat, then directed that the defendant be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail.
The Court asked the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice while the matter was adjourned till 30th January, 2020, for report of the DPP’s advice to be available.
The defendant may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP’s report finds him culpable and recommends that he should be tried for defilement which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before Court P.M.EXPRESS gathered.
