Justice may have come the way of a 7-year old girl, who was brutally defiled by their neighbour, Lanso Ogundele, following the recent judgment of the Ogun State High Court, which sentenced him to life imprisonment over the dastardly act.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the High Court sitting in Ogun State sentenced Ogundele to life imprisonment without any option of fine for sexual assault, thus he may likely spent the rest of his entire life in custody.
The convict, Ogundele, was said to have committed the offence at Olugbo area of Odeda Local Government Area, Ogun State, where he resided with the victim’s parents.
The offence was committed in September 2018, which contravened Sections 32 and 33 of the Child Rights Laws of Ogun, 2006 and he was under trial for several years before the Court convicted him.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Patricia Oduniyi, found Ogundele guilty on the two count offence of sexual abuse and child exploitation under the Criminal law of Ogun State and sentenced him accordingly.
The Presiding Judge ruled that the prosecution counsel proved its case beyond doubt with tenable evidence presented against the convict and he was sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labour.
During the trial, the prosecutor,  Mr. T.O. Adeyemi, told the Court that the convict, who is a neighbour to the victim, sent the girl on an errand while her parents were not at home.
“When the victim came back to deliver the message, the convict lured her into his room and forcefully had intercourse with her,” the prosecuting counsel said.
He stated that the matter was reported to the Police and he was arrested and detained for interrogation while the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment and the medical report conducted showed she was sexually molested and abused.
