One of the biggest flexes for an average Onye Anambra is their sentimental attachment to their homestead/country home. This is by extension the reality for Ndi Igbo who seize the Christmas break every year to return home to meet with kith and kin.
This year’s Christmas celebration in Anambra has been described by some persons as a “massive homecoming”. For instance, Ukpor in Nnewi South, after a two year hiatus, celebrated the Ukpor Day with pomp and pageantry. At Anam in Anambra West Local Government, there was a beach party that has left the internet buzzing, as thousands of young people and fun seekers were seen partying hard by the banks of the Omambala coast.
The major cities of Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi and Ekwulobia barely had enough hotel space to accommodate visitors who came into the State this yuletide. The beauty of this year’s celebration is that it came with a lot of improved economic opportunities. From the real estate sector to the hospitality industry, new companies are springing up across the length and breath of the State.
Something is seriously happening in Anambra that will make the new year far more glorious than previous years. This trip to a liveable and prosperous homeland has got more persons on board than was ever imagined.
