Mrs. Ambode At Agege Stadium For  Asisat Oshoala Foundation

The First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs Bolanle Ambode was at the Agege Stadium on Friday to grace the final events of the week long Asisat Oshoala/Lagos State Secondary Schools Girls Football Clinic. 

The programme which started on Monday, 13 November saw the reigning African women footballer of the year and a football scout from Birmingham, UK, Ali Al Roz,  taking Lagos secondary schools girls on the rudiments of football which included passing, dribbling, defending and goalkeeping in a bid to inculcate in the students the culture of football as they make progress in their education.

At the final ceremony which saw the attendance of the amiable wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Special Adviser on Sports to the Governor, Mr Deji Tinubu, former Nigerian international, Mutiu Adepoju, Dosu Joseph and a host of other dignitaries, the Asisat Oshoala Foundation was launched and an exhibition match which was won by a Lagos girls secondary school selected side was also played.

Mrs Ambode with her philanthropic heart was on hand to give outstanding girls of the clinic cash prizes and gift items.

Oshoala was grateful with the support from the First Lady and particularly for coming to the Agege Stadium for the final ceremony of the clinic. She said her target is to see a girl child in Lagos state doing well in her education and making it big in her career as a footballer.

According to her, success in life does not come on a platter of gold, but with hardwork and determination. She enjoined the girls to let what they have learnt at the clinic adds values to their life while they are making the state and their parents proud. She promised that the Asisat Oshoala/Lagos State Secondary Schools Girls Football Clinic will be an annual event.

Mistura Yusuf was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the match, Best Defender award went to Olamide Adugbe, Best Goalkeeper, Ayeolowo Bidemi, while the Best Upcoming Player  award went to Okeowo Toyosi.
