Ifeanyichukwu Moses Ikpo

Leader of Alimosho Football Coaches Council, Ifeanyichukwu Moses Ikpo has explained why he wants to contest for the chairmanship seat in the forthcoming elections of Lagos State Football Coaches Association, LSFCA.

Ikpo said he has designed a seven point agenda which essentially encapsulates the various challenges coaches face in the discharge of their duties across state and promised to fulfill his electoral promises if he is elected as the next chairman of the state football coaches association.

The seven point agenda according to Ikpo are Repositioning, Welfare, Grassroost Support, Revenue Generation, Job creation, Pension Scheme and Stewardship Assessment.

The Alimosho council leader said he is coming out for good to change certain things in the association not to witch hunt any candidate who is contesting with him.

“The first thing, I think the coaches’ body need at this time is a paradigm shift. That is changing from the old ways we used to operate to a new way, especially now that we are in the digital age.

“I have noticed over the years that the association has, more or less, been ostracized from the scheme of things, particularly when it comes to being recognized as a key stakeholder in the decision making process in the Nigerian football sphere. Due to the way we have been perceived as a body without a clear-cut vision, coaches are hardly rated, consulted or given their dues as a relevant team player in the development of football in Nigeria which I believe if I am elected, things would change for better,” .

On the welfare of the coaches, Ikpo said his administration would put measure in place to ensure that affiliated coaches are taken care of in area of medical checkup and job opportunities.

“My administration intends to do much more than just talking. I will be ready to put in place arrangements that would see the coaches’ body affiliated with the Health Management Organizations (HMOs) to enhance healthcare delivery at a subsidised rate. And in the area of job security, we shall ensure that a policy of no-contract, no-work is initiated and vigorously pursued to protect our coaches from heartless employers who have taken the practice of use-and-dump coaches to new levels, “said coach Ikpo Moses  who disclosed that “I’m a Coach “ project started two years ago when the ambition to contest for chairman seat of state football association was conceived.

Moses Ikpo disclosed that his administration would also introduce pension scheme where coaches would be getting something after they retire from coaching job.

He said the era of coaches retire without getting anything on monthly basis would be a things of the past if he becomes the next chairman of the state football coaches association
