In a move signaling a commitment to strengthened collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government, the new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Dr. Maryam Keshinro, alongside her management team has paid an unexpected yet pivotal familiarization visit to the member representing Orlu, Orsu and Oru East Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. High Chief Canice Moore Chukwugozie Nwachukwu (Omeogo, Ogbaturuenyi Na Orlu), who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Inter-Governmental Affairs of the 10th Assembly and Member of the 6th ECOWAS Parliament.
This visit, which was both strategic and timely, marks an important gesture of goodwill and partnership. The Ministry falls directly under the purview of Hon. High Chief Omeogo’s committee, and as such, was a welcome step in fostering unity between both offices.
Hon. High Chief Omeogo, visibly pleased by the visit, warmly welcomed the Permanent Secretary and her team. He praised her for her “humility and calmness”, emphasizing the importance of such gestures in cultivating mutual respect and cooperation.
He went on to pledge that his office would not only reciprocate the goodwill but would also actively support the Ministry in any capacity needed.
“We are going to demonstrate the spirit of reciprocity,” he declared.
“There is nothing you will need from this office that we will not deliver with precision.”
The meeting highlighted the critical importance of synergy and a harmonious working relationship between the executive and legislative branches. As the Permanent Secretary embarks on her tenure, such collaborations will undoubtedly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of governance.
The visit also reinforces the understanding that mutual respect and cooperation are foundational to achieving collective goals.
With this promising start, both the Ministry and the House Committee on Inter-Governmental Affairs have exhibited a shared commitment to delivering results and driving progress for the positive benefit of Nigerians.
