Aspiring amateur football player, Bola Ibojo has said that with the tutelage and mentorship he is receiving as a young football player he is convinced that he would eclipse the football records held by Argentina and Barcelona CF of Spain skipper, Lionel Messi.

Ibojo who is honing his football playing skills with  Bright Stars Sports Academy, Satellite Town, Lagos State, said he idolizes the Argentine-born mercurial midfielder so much that he always learns new dribbling football skills whenever the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is in action for both club and country.

The Junior Secondary School One, JSS 1 student of Navy Officers Wives Association, NOWA Secondary School, Navy Town, Lagos State, expressed optimism about his football playing abilities while speaking with the club’s media channel over the weekend.

Although, both the football idol and his protégé might be miles apart, the Nigerian amateur and aspiring professional football player said he is destined for the top. He admitted that Messi may have the best of training facilities to his advantage but believes with the few he has he is capable of becoming a world-beater.

On his immediate plans, the 13-year old striker said because of his love for football he had to convince his parents to have a change of heart by not sending him to the boarding school in order to create enough room for him to perfect his football playing skills.

“I won’t lie to you, my plan was to be a boarding school student but if I do, I won’t be able to go for training except we are on holidays, but being a day school student I can always go for training on weekends and fully when we are on holidays.”

As Messi rose from an amateur football player to becoming an acclaimed football player, Ibojo believes he too can attain a higher level if afforded the same opportunity like his Argentine football idol.

Convinced that among his strengths are ability to dribble, aerial prowess and ability to score with his back to the goalpost, the lanky striker believes he would write his name in gold if handed the opportunity by the Scouting Department of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.

According to him “I’m always ready to represent my fatherland, I can help the coaches solve the scoring problem, I can play for the U-15, the Golden Eaglets because at 13 I train with the senior team so that should tell the coaches about my football playing prowess.”
