The Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has reaffirmed that the Corps occupies a distinct and indispensable role within the nation’s security architecture.
Professor Audi stated this while declaring open a two-day strategic training workshop on the implementation of operational deliverables and research methodology.
According to the CG, the NSCDC’s core mandates including the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, disaster management, intelligence gathering and community engagement, place it in a unique position that no other security agency can replicate.
“This programme is designed to drive the adoption of research methodology and digitalisation as critical enablers for achieving our operational deliverables, fully aligned with the Presidential Priorities,” Professor Audi explained.
He noted that the initiative underscores management’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity through innovation, technology, and evidence-based decision-making.
The CG further stressed that contemporary security challenges demand analytical solutions, urging personnel to look beyond field competence and acquire the skills needed to identify problems, conduct research, and develop practical solutions.
“The knowledge gained must translate into visible, measurable improvements in service delivery across all formations of the Corps,” he added.
Earlier in the event, the Commandant in charge of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Commandant Peter Okloho, reminded participants that the Federal Government assesses the NSCDC strictly on its statutory deliverables.
He charged officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in their reporting following the training.
Similarly, the Head of the Critical Thinking, Research, and Innovation Unit (CTRIU), Dr. Ogunshola Folashade, observed that navigating today’s dynamic security environment requires a blend of field competence and critical thinking.
She outlined the training’s scope to include implementation strategies for operational deliverables, research methodology, strategic communication, advanced report writing, and institutional best practices.
A major highlight of the workshop was the formal induction and administration of the Oath of Allegiance to newly appointed CTRI desk officers, conducted by the NSCDC Head of Legal Services, Commandant Bamiyo Akomolafe.
The two-day intensive training drew participants from all 36 state commands and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as well as representatives from all directorates, departments, and units at the National Headquarters.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by ACC Gever Victor.
