The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL), Mr. Idowu Oguntona, has declared that the Company, in line with its mandate, is ready to harness transportation potentials in Iruland, Lagos State.

Oguntona, who made the declaration during a recent courtesy visit to the Oniru of Iruland, Oba AbdulWasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, in his Palace, said that the company decided to visit the Monarch in order to seek his guidance on areas of interest concerning transportation investment in the Kingdom.

While thanking His Majesty for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded his team, Oguntona gave an assurance that LBSL is ready to join efforts to build a reliable economy, through a modern transport solution in Iru Kingdom.

He further wished the Monarch and his family sound health and prayed for a successful reign that will lead to both human and physical development of the Kingdom.

In his response, Oba Lawal appreciated LBSL team for the visit and their support since he ascended the throne, stressing that effective transportation is a key developmental factor in an emerging economy like Iru.

He expressed the intention to embark on vigorous infrastructural redevelopment and renewal of Iruland soon, as the Kingdom hosts people from all walks of life on a daily basis, adding that he is amenable to new ideas that will generate solutions and address the challenges of efficient transportation.

The Oniru revealed that Iruland plays host to 40% of employees and employers of labour in Lagos State which cut across all businesses ranging from Oil and Gas, Real Estate, Embassies, Hospitality, Communications, Finance and Tourism, among others.

According to Kabiyesi “Iru Kingdom is a dynamic community in Lagos because it could be accessed by road and water transportation, which makes it exceptional and ideal for a robust strategic transportation plan while it plays a major role in driving the economy of the State”.

“Apart from the daily visitors and investors, Iruland has youths that makeup to 65% of the indigenes, who can be beneficiaries and actively involved in the transformation of a modern transit system”, he added

The Oba also seized the opportunity to plead with LBSL to consider medium capacity buses in its route map as this will enhance shuttling in Iru Kingdom.

“It is high time that I call on all interested partners, investors and stakeholders in the transportation industry to join hands with the Kingdom in the provision of modern transportation and infrastructure, as it is a major indicator of any developing economy as outlined in the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration”, the Oniru appealed.
