The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, has advised the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, to be wary of some Igbo people who might use his planned visit to Lagos for their selfish interests and shortchange Ndigbo in the State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Aguene stated this on the heels of clandestine meetings by some groups of people in various hotels on how to use Chief Iwuanyanwu to achieve their selfish interests against Ndigbo in the State.
He advised Chief Iwuanyanwu to be careful with such people and not be misled while coming to Lagos because they have sweet coated mouths with good speeches just to achieve their selfish interests.
He stated that Chief Iwuanyanwu should involve the real Igbo stakeholders in order to understand what is really happening in Lagos and to have clear picture to avoid coming to Lagos and it results into compounding issues for Ndigbo in Lagos State.
“Chief Iwuanyanwu should meet the right Igbo people in Lagos, who will give him right and proper information. He should not meet wrong people, who will mislead him and he would make statements that will jeopardize the peace of Ndigbo in Lagos State” Chief Aguene stated.
He mentioned such Igbo critical stakeholders to include Ezendigbo, Lagos State, Eze Christian Nwachukwu, Eze Hyacinth Ohazuruike, Chief Solomon Aguene, Chief Joe Igbokwe, Hon. Jude Idimogu and the grand patron of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief (Dr) Ifeanyi Odii, Chief Mike Umeh, Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, Chief Oliver Akubueze, Chief John Uche among others.
He stated that he is passionate about Ohaneze Ndigbo as social cultural organization that protects Ndigbo and would not allow any other groups to try to be above Ohaneze in Lagos State.
He maintained that Ohaneze Ndigbo stands above any other Igbo groups in Lagos State and that is why some people said he was a stubborn person because he insisted that Ohaneze will maintain its stand as apolitical Igbo organization.
Chief Aguene regretted the unfortunate demolition of property at Alaba International Market and stated that Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State has started doing something about it.
He urged those who have documents for land approval to bring photocopies to the Ohanaeze Secretariat at James Robinson Street, Surulere area of Lagos and he would ensure that the Lagos State Government and Igbo critical stakeholders would compensate such people because the Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is a friend of Ndigbo and would not do anything against them.
He noted that going to Alaba Market with Igbo traditional regalia will not solve the problem as some groups including Ndieze had done, saying that would not solve the plight of affected traders. He posited that taking practical steps to engage the Government for adequate compensation by the right people, who have contacts with the Government, is the right thing to do.
Chief Aguene reiterated the support of Ndigbo for Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration because he has demonstrated over the years that he is a friend of Ndigbo and would protect the interests of Ndigbo in Lagos State.
