OJUDU GREETS CHRISTIANS AT EASTER

The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, has sent a message of felicitations out to Christians, asking them to imbibe the character traits of Jesus Christ whose death and resurrection were being celebrated during the season.

Ojudu, who is the lead governorship aspirant in the forthcoming elections in Ekiti State, hailed the moving and powerful story of Jesus’s sacrifice and resurrection, adding that Easter was a time of reflection and renewal when everybody would have a chance to take stock of what is truly important to them and their families.

He also used his Easter message to remind followers of Christ of the key message of the occasion, that life and love will triumph always. According to him, the Easter celebration invites everyone to always remain courageous in the face of human cruelty, neither should they lose hope on account of the apparent triumph of evil and despair.

He observed that Jesus, in his cruel death, takes evil unto himself and demonstrates his triumphs over it by rising two days later on Easter Day. This, he said is not only religiously correct but also politically correct and should be the hope of everyone, that no matter how dark it may be in the night, the day will definitely come with its bright light.

Ojudu noted that this particular Easter is a good time to reflect that Nigeria is one of the most successful multicultural, multi-religious societies and the country is enriched, not divided, by its diversity of faiths and culture.”

He said whatever the faith anyone may profess, the four-day long Easter weekend should be a time to get together with one’s family, friends and associates to relax and recharge. On his part, he hinted that he would be celebrating the Easter with his people in Ekiti State,

“Ekiti is the most unique homogenous state in the country. It’s that honour, integrity and spirit of excellence that keeps attracting me to my root and makes me ever willing to sacrifice myself for it,” he said.”

Ojudu also paid tribute to fellow Ekiti sons and daughters who, he said, had experienced untold suffering under misrule in the last four years, admonishing them that, like in the days of Jesus, the heavy stone would soon be rolled away and they will all rise again.

While politicians in Ekiti are busy on the campaign trail, Ojudu reminded them not to lose sight of what the people actually wanted. “Inclusivity and compassion should be our watchword. This requires unity of purpose, it requires focus.”

“We should all see Jesus Christ’s humility and his open welcomeness for the poor and the needy as a mark of leadership that we should all emulate.”

“Like Jesus, we have all been betrayed by those we trusted. But the love of Christ means we must put our different past experiences aside and seek to come together to forge a new way forward, a way of peace and reconciliation,” the lead governorship aspirant said in his statement.
