Oluwu Coach Begs Fans After Team’s Defeat At Ate’s Cup

Head Coach Of Oluwu FC, Sunday Adeyemi has apologized to fans following their 3-4 loss to J.Boys FC in the opening match of Ate’s football championship which was played on Tuesday at LSDPC football pitch, Ile-Ile Metta, Isolo, Lagos.

Adeyemi said his team played better but they were unlucky to have lost the game. He said losing their opening match against their opponents was a serious setback and urged their fans to give the club their total support in their remaining matches.

” I am sad that my team lost their opening match on our home ground. Our fans are not happy and we need to appeal to them not to lose confidence in the team. We made some mistakes in our opening match and we promised to correct such mistakes before our next match. I am using this medium to appeal to them and give us their maximum support in our remaining matches,” he said.

In his reaction, J. Boy Coach, Boban Kolarun said the game was tough and thanked God for the team’s victory. He said both teams played good football but better side won the game.

” Our victory today (Tuesday) showed that we are good to go far in the tournament. It was a tough match for us because our opponents are equally good and they enjoyed home support. With our determination and doggedness we came out victorious against them,” he said.

Chairman Organising Committee, Fuad Akintunde said the competition was put together to discover talents in Isolo and its environs. He said many players are not well known and a competition of this magnitude would help such players to come to limelight.

Akintunde popularly known as Ate explained that aside bringing players to the limelight, the tourney would also help football agents and local coaches both in the professional and amateur leagues in Nigeria look into the players who are hungry for success.

“This tournament is going to be tough because many of the participating teams have football pedigree in Lagos State. As an organizer, we are going to bring competent referees and ensure that all the teams are treated equally,” he said.

Match coordinator, Ajibola Mufutau urged all the teams to play the game according to the rules, saying that any team that violates the rules would be sanctioned accordingly.
