ONC Celebrates Prof Ngozi Nma Odu As Inspiration Of The Year On Mothers’ Day

The Orashi National Congress, (ONC), under the leadership of its President General, Amb. Comr. Emeni Ibe, has joined the global Christian community in celebrating Mother’s Day 2025, recognizing the resilience, contributions, and achievements of Mothers in the Orashi region and beyond.
This year’s celebration is particularly significant as the ONC has chosen to honour Her Excellency, Prof. Mrs. Ngozi Nma Odu, the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, as the Inspiration of the Year.
Prof. Odu, a distinguished academic, administrator and leader, has consistently championed the cause of Mothers and women in governance, education and societal development.
In his statement, Amb. Comr. Emeni Ibe emphasized the vital role Mothers play in shaping communities and driving progress.
“On this special occasion of Mothers’ Day, we recognize and celebrate the strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions of Mothers, especially those of the Orashi region, Rivers State and Nigeria in general. We proudly draw inspiration from our mother, Her Excellency Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, whose exemplary leadership and dedication to service continues to inspire generations. She embodies excellence, breaking barriers and setting new standards for women cum Mothers in governance and beyond.”
The ONC President General further reiterated the Congress’s commitment to advocating for women’s rights, empowerment, and inclusion in leadership. He called for greater support for mothers and women at all levels, urging stakeholders to ensure that policies and initiatives favor their growth and development.
As part of the celebration, the Orashi National Congress is set to host series of empowerment programmes aimed at enhancing women’s participation in leadership, entrepreneurship, and community development, including  holding prayers for all mothers and most especially for Her Excellency’s quick recovery and restoration of suspended arms of government back in Rivers State.
The Mothers’ Day is globally observed by the  Christian community each year, serving as a platform to reflect on progress made in gender equality and to amplify the voices of Mothers world-wide in the upbringing of their children and the wellbeing of the society.
The recognition of Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu as an inspiration to Mothers across the Orashi region of Rivers State underscores the commitment of the ONC to celebrating excellence and encouraging women to reach greater heights.
As the celebrations continue, the call for inclusivity, equality, and empowerment remains stronger than ever. The Orashi National Congress has reaffirmed its stance in ensuring that mothers and women generally are given their rightful place in governance, economic development, and societal transformation.”
