Onigando Cup Enters Q/Final Stage In Lagos

Four matches have been lined up for the quarter final matches at the ongoing Onigando Cup which holds Friday at the Palace playground, Igando, Alimosho, Lagos.
The competition, which started two weeks ago, is part ofactivities to mark the 40th anniversary of the traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty, Oba Lasisi Gbadamosi, who has spent forty years on the throne. The anniversary would hold on 6 September at Igando Palace playground, Alimosho.
In a quarter final fixtures released by the organizers, De Royal FC tackle Peculiar FC, All Stars confront Ageshin FC, while IBJC FC face Dynamous FC as EFCC trade tackle with Sammy FC in the last match of the day.
Match coordinator, Prince Suleiman Gbadamosi explained that the competition had been keenly contested among the twenty teams that are taking part in the tournament, saying that all the participants have lived up to expectations in terms of standard of play and fair play.
He disclosed that all the quarter finalists have equal chance to reach the final stage following their performance in the group stage. He also assured the teams of good officiating saying that all the grey areas in the group stage have been addressed.
“The tourney is a tough one in the sense that some teams that qualified as best losers are now in the quarter final stage. This means there are no big teams in the competition any longer. Let me use this opportunity to tell the quarter finalists good officiating and any team violates our rules can be disqualified with immediate effect,” he said.
Sulaiman thanked members of the committee for their effort to ensure that the tourney recorded huge success from the group stage and urged them not to rest on their oars in the remaining matches.
In the second round matches played recently Abbyem FC lost 0-1 to EFCC FC, De Royal defeated BATE FC 4-2, IBJC FC beat Super 8 4-2, MaltidaOgidan also suffered 2-3 to Peculiar. In other matches, DynamousFC thrashedBaggio FC 1-0, All Stars Walloped Dana FC 3-0, Sammy FC beat Christ Embassy FC 3-0, while Samjson suffered 0-1 defeat in the hands of Ageshin FC.
