Orashi National Congress Pays Courtesy Visit To Rivers State University VC

A delegation of the Orashi National Congress, ONC, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi.

 

The visit was led by the President General of the notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group, Ambassador Comrade Emeni Ibe, JP, AP.

Speaking during the visit, Amb. Ibe said the Congress was in the VC’s office on behalf of the people of the Orashi Region, which comprises Abua/Odual, Ahoada East, Ahoada West, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Areas of Rivers State.

 

“On behalf of the good people of Orashi Region in Rivers State, we congratulate and commend you for the strides recorded so far under your watch. We lack words to express the profound gratitude of our people,” he said.

The ONC President General described the Congress as an independent socio-cultural umbrella organization committed to advocating sustainable security, peace, national unity, and justice in the region.

Amb. Ibe noted that part of the Congress’ mandate is to enlighten and mobilize Orashi people to embrace dialogue in resolving conflicts and to work closely with security agencies.

 

“Having the ambition of contributing our quota towards bettering the society, we focus on creating a conducive environment and reducing crime like cultism, pipeline vandalization, youth restiveness and terrorism,” he said.

He listed some of ONC’s key activities to include:
– Public enlightenment campaigns for the return of illegally possessed arms
– National unity and security workshops
– The Orashi Peace Walk — “Waka for Peace”
– Talk shops for military-civilian cordial interface
– Anti-pipeline vandalization campaign
– Anti-bunkering initiative
– Anti-kidnapping campaign
– Operation Walk with Security Agencies
– Operation Give Honour to Traditional Rulers

 

Amb. Ibe prayed for God’s continuous strength and grace upon the Vice Chancellor in the discharge of his duties.

 

In recognition of his contributions, the Congress presented a *Certificate of Excellence* to Prof. Zeb-Obipi for his immense contributions to the development of the university community across the Port Harcourt and Ahoada campuses.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, commended the Congress for the visit and lauded their outstanding contributions to peace, unity, security, and development in the Orashi region.

 

He assured the delegation that his doors remain open for collaboration with the institution, and encouraged the ONC to sustain its sensitization campaigns and other developmental activities.

 

“I appreciate your commitment to the region. We are ready to partner with you on initiatives that will further advance education, security and community development,” Prof. Zeb-Obipi said.
