The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has engaged plaza heads and business operators in Computer Village on revenue generation, security, sanitation and improved service delivery.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the council on Tuesday, Comrade Dauda explained that revenue paid by businesses is public money, not personal funds, and assured stakeholders that the council is committed to using it responsibly for the benefit of residents and businesses.

He said Computer Village, as a major corporate business hub, requires a revenue system that reflects its unique nature, while promising continued engagement to ensure fairness and accurate classification of shops and businesses.

Comrade Dauda disclosed that the council is also working to channel resources into key areas including security, environmental sanitation, roads, healthcare and other community services.

On security, he urged plaza owners and traders to see it as a collective responsibility, stressing that insecurity affects businesses by discouraging customers and reducing economic activities.

He also called for updated records of current occupants and businesses in the plazas to improve revenue assessment and eliminate outdated information.

“It is not personal money. It is the money that all of us will benefit from at the end of the day.” — Comrade Dauda.

The Council Chairman assured Computer Village stakeholders that the administration would continue to listen to their concerns and work with them as partners in progress to restore the area’s old glory.
