Reasons have begun to emerge why reigning African women footballer of the year, Nigerian Asisat Oshoala was nominated for the maiden Nigerian Awards for Sporting Excellence (NASE).
The NASE will hold on Saturday, 2 December, 2017 at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja.
Chairman of the Award Committee, Prince Isidore Oduah exclusively told PM EXPRESS that Oshoala, a star player of Nigerian senior female national team, Super Falcons, has done a lot to get nomination for the award as the Best Female Footballer of the Year 2017 with her outstanding performance both on and off the field of play.
“Oshoala has been a role model for our young girls. She had done quite well for her to be nominated. On the field of play. We are witnesses to what she achieved at her club in the Chinese Women’s League, helping them winning matches. We are proud of what she recently did for girl child in Lagos when she organised Asisat Oshoala /Lagos State Secondary Schools Girls Football Clinic with her Foundation and facilitating support from the Wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode. We believe Asisat Oshoala deserves this honour and come 2 December at the Lagos Airport Hotel, we will honour her, ” Prince Oduah said.
Other nominees for the Nigerian Awards for Sporting Excellence include Super Eagles Skipper Mikel Obi; mesmerising winger Victor Moses; veteran striker Obafemi Martins;, Carl Ikeme, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and table tennis star, Aruna Quadri.
