The recent robbery attack that took place at Jaba Estate, third power line Ijede area of Ikorodu Lagos may have signalled the change of tactics by robbers to succeed in their operations due to security beef up in the state.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that at least 10 buildings were burgled, and properties including money worth millions of naira were carted away in broad daylight.
The incident happened on Wednesday between 10 am and 11 am when the occupants had gone to work and there were no security on ground to impede them.
It was gathered that the armed men invaded the estate and broke into homes without minding that their faces may be seen or not. This was a great shock to the residents who said it had never happened before in the area.
One of the residents, Baba Ojo said it was strange that more than ten buildings were burgled in board daylight when the occupants have gone to
work.
“Many of us could not believe what happen about the houses burgled through window nets. The bad boys used sharp objects to cut the window nets and made away with valuable items from my room.” Ojo narrated.
A resident and business woman who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said she had lived in the estate for two years and nothing like that had happened before the incident.
“My window net was cut and all the jewelries I had bought when Nigeria was good was stolen through the window. I did not know how they managed to remove my jewelry box.” She lamented
This was confirmed the by the estate’s Community Development Association (CDA),Chairman, Mr Isaac Ogunsola who spoke to our correspondent and exclaimed that it was unbelievable.
Ogunsola said with that kind of daylight robbery, that the estate was no longer safe for the residents who are now living in fear. He appealed to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and the state government to assist the estate with neighborhood security guards for security during the day.
He explained that the estate had local security men that guard
the estate in the night but had no security during the day.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that there was apprehension in the area since the incident happened days ago as they do not know what will happen next.
