The Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Adeola, has described Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, the first civilian Governor of Lagos State, as a pacesetter in Lagos State and Nigeria as he celebrates his 90th birthday anniversary.
In a statement released to felicitate with the nonagenarian, the senator stated that Alhaji Jakande’s footprint as a foremost journalist, democrat and first civilian Governor of Lagos State, remains indelible in the annals of Nigeria history adding that “as the first civilian Governor of Lagos State, you set in motion the Lagos State status as first among equals in the area of delivery of democracy dividends to meet the yearnings of the people”.
Senator Adeola, while praying that God grant Alhaji Jakande further good health and peace of mind in the years ahead, noted that the nationalist “had played and is still playing critical roles in the development of not only Lagos State but Nigeria and is a role model for many Nigerians who moved from their professions to join partisan politics in service of the people”.
