Police Arrest 5 Armed Robbers, Recover Firearms

Police operatives in Lagos made another achievement in their fight against crimes after they arrested five armed robbers and recovered cache of arms during an operation.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Lekki area of Lagos while the suspects were on operation as was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana.

He said that on 19th July, 2019, at about 1330hrs, Ilasan Police Station received report that a group of hoodlums, suspected to be armed robbers/cultists, were sighted behind Angle 90 Bar, Ilasan, Lekki. Thus, a team of policemen was quickly mobilized to the scene and it paid off.

DSP Elkana revealed that the leader of the gang, Ibrahim Abu, 32, and four others namely: Samuel Usai, John Nwaru, Emmanuel Moro and Michael Daniel were arrested.
He said that on searching the suspects, one locally made pistol with ten (10) unexpended cartridges were recovered as exhibits by the Police.
The suspects were detained at the police station before they were later transferred to the FSARS office at the State Command for further investigation. Elkana said that the suspects will be charged to Court after the conclusion of investigation.
In a related development, DSP Elkana said on 17th July, 2019, at about 0830hrs, acting on credible intelligence, operatives of Operation Crush raided some criminal hideouts within Akerele area, Agege and arrested 34 suspects known as ”Awawa Boys”. He said that the suspects had been terrorising the areas and were arrested while seven bags of weeds, suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered.

Meanwhile, the suspects were handed over to Lagos State Task Force, Oshodi for prosecution.
