Panic-Driven Projects Cannot Replace Strategic Governance In Osun State

The recent hurried commissioning of road projects by the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osun State has raised serious concerns among discerning citizens and stakeholders who understand that governance is not about political theatrics, but about structured, transparent, and sustainable development.

Development projects should be products of careful planning, budgetary clarity, stakeholder engagement, and long-term impact assessment, not reactionary gestures triggered by political pressure or declining public confidence. When road projects are suddenly rushed and aggressively publicized, the people are right to question whether these initiatives are part of a coherent infrastructure masterplan or mere optics aimed at influencing public perception.

Osun people deserve answers. What is the total cost of these projects? Were due procurement processes strictly followed? What is the funding source? What are the completion timelines and maintenance frameworks? Transparency is not optional in a democracy; it is a fundamental obligation.

It is important to stress that no one opposes development. Roads are critical to economic growth, rural access, commerce, and social mobility. However, governance must be consistent, not seasonal. Infrastructure delivery should be steady and policy-driven not concentrated in bursts that coincide with political tension.

A government confident in its performance does not need hurried commissioning ceremonies to prove relevance. It relies on measurable progress, fiscal discipline, and public trust built over time.

We urge the administration to move beyond performative governance and focus on sustainable economic policies, responsible financial management, and genuine stakeholder inclusion. Osun State deserves leadership anchored on strategy, transparency, and long-term prosperity, not hurried gestures designed to score short-term political points.
