For sometime now, the residents of Igando and its environs in Lagos have not known peace following the activities of armed robbers operating mostly at night in the area.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the ugly incidents had put the Police in the area on their toes on how to get rid of the bandits.
That may have paid off following the arrest of four armed robbers with arms operating at night with motorcycle by the operatives of the Lagos State Police Command.
It was gathered that the notorious robbers, consisting of a 3-man gang, were nabbed by the Police officers from Igando Division led by the DPO, CSP Taiwo Kasumu, after receiving credible information about the gang’s operation.
According to the Police, the suspected robbers were arrested on 14th September, 2019, at about 01:30hrs, in Egan, Lagos. The robbers were said to have been terrorizing the Igando/Egan residential neighborhood at night. They usually operated with motorcycles to rob along Ikotun-Igando Road but were ambushed by the Police.
One Oseni Waheed (m) 32, was arrested after the manhunt by the Police with a locally made pistol. The suspect confessed and took detectives to Aribisala Street in Egan, where three of his fleeing accomplices were also arrested at 02:30hours on 16th September, 2019.
Interrogation is in progress while the case file is being transferred to the Anti-Robbery Section, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, , CP Zubairu Muazu, has further implored the residents to always oblige the Police with useful information that can help in making the communities safer.
