Police Officers Who Collect Money For Bail Are Kidnappers – Lagos Police Boss Insists

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, on Tuesday reiterated that bail is free and any officer who obtains money for bail is not different from a kidnapper.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that CP Muazu explained that the kidnappers collect ransom for victims and that officers who seek money for bail are not different from kidnappers.

The CP reiterated the Force’s earlier stance at the official commissioning of  Statement Talking Room at State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos.

“No police officer should expect money for bail in this Command because bail is free anywhere in the country”
“Officers in this Command show desist from any form corruption or else he or she will be severely dealt with” Muazu warned.

Muazu said that the Command has taken bold steps by initiating technology driven investigation due to the crime prevention measures put in place and launched two special operations in the region in the recent past. He said Operation Puff Adder was launched earlier while Operation Flush was launched on June 10, 2019, aimed at combating the menace of cultism and gangsterism in Lagos State.

Police boss, who also paraded over 100 cultists and gangsters, said they were arrested around Lagos and environs out of which 70 of them were charged to Court while 30 are still under investigation.

“We identified over ten active cult groups and gangs in various parts of the state and took the battle to their door steps”
“Lagos State was in the past two weeks tensed with apprehension of the activities of cultists.
“Through massive raids on cultists strongholds among other strategies, we successfully prevented any kind of activity or killing in the name of 7/7 Celebration” he said.

Muazu added that the following were recovered from the suspects: 4 Beretta pistols with 7 live ammunition, 1 double barreled gun, 8 locally made pistols, 25 cutlasses, axes and assorted weapons.

“We are indeed winning the war and we will sustain it until they are totally defeated” he concluded
