A pregnant woman, Mrs. Favour Ofoegbu, reportedly absconded from the Court after she realised that she will be placed under oath to bear false witness against a defendant, Larry Inibhunu, in a Lagos Court.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ogba Magistrates Court, Lagos, presided by Mrs. E. Kubenji, where the defendant, Inibhunu was reportedly framed up by the Police at New Oko Oba Division and charged before the Court for illegal detention of Mrs. Favour.

It was gathered that Mrs. Favour went to serve the defendant a quit notice on a Sunday and he refused to accept the notice insisting that Favour should go and make a photocopy of the notice before he would accept.
She reportedly went back and informed her principal about what happened and the matter was reported to the Police, where Mrs. Favour alleged that the defendant, Inibhunu, detained her when she went to serve him the quit notice.
The man was then arrested, charged before the Court and remanded in prison custody pending when he perfected his bail conditions.
However, the defendant perfected his bail, was released from prison custody and the matter was fixed for hearing.

A mild drama played out after Favour came to Court as witness and the matter was slated for trial. She observed from the proceedings in the Court that she will be placed under oath with a Bible in order to swear that the evidence she will be presenting in Court must be true.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Mrs. Favour, having realised that the statement she wrote to the Police was false and bearing in mind that she was pregnant and will take an oath to lie before the Court which may cause her negative consequences, she absconded from Court and ran away.

The case was fixed for trial on four occasions but Mrs. Favour Ofoegbu refused to show up to testify. The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenji, then struck out the matter and set the tenant, Inibhunu, free.
