A university consultant, Professor Adewale Dosumu has landed in trouble over the illegal eviction of his tenant and destruction of the tenant’s properties worth millions of Naira through his estate agent, Ahmed Babalola in Lagos.
The incident happened at 12, Ade Ibrahim Street in Shasha area of Lagos where Dosumu had a property and it was occupied by the tenant, Mr. Ajiboye Folusho who runs a private school known as Mighty Hand of God.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that the police have already arrested his agent, Babalola while Professor Dosumu was said to be at large and wanted by the police to explain his role in connection with the illegal eviction described as crude and brutal by the residents.
It was gathered that Babalola invaded the school premises with suspected thugs as workers and used some blocks provided by Dosumu to fence the school compound while the pupils were inside their classrooms.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the action caused panic as the pupils had to be rescued through the fence before the workers started damaging properties inside the school.
According to the victim, the workers went ahead to remove the roof of the school and unfortunately there was two days of heavy downpour which damaged all the vital documents and properties in the school.
Residents within the area wondered what would have led a professor and his agent to carry out such action because the receipt sighted showed that the victim had been paying rent on the property before the incident.
It was gathered that Dosumu abandoned the storey building and the empty land after he had handed it over to his agent and did not show up for several years.
When he eventually showed up with another agent, the tenants were introduced to him and they presented their receipts of payments for those years.
However, Dosumu changed the agent and brought Babalola. He started using him to inflict pains on the tenants and many were forced to park out remaining the victim because of the school.
Meanwhile, Babalola was charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court for illegal eviction and destruction of properties..
He pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O Shomade granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor did not object his bail condition.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till Wednesday 28 March 2018 for hearing.
P.M.EXPRESS learnt that there was a twist in the matter as Babalola was heard saying that he was wrongly charged because he acted on behalf of his principal, Professor Dosumu.
It was gathered that Dosumu may be arrested and charged to court if the police established that Babalola acted on his behalf as the law stipulated.
