Operatives of the Nigeria Police at the Lion Building Division, Lagos have arrested one Emmanuel Philip, a Vigilante incharge of security at Hadassah TI Shipping Company located at Marina, Lagos, and a casual welder with the Shipping firm, Albert John and charged them before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly conniving to steal their employer’s Raiders meter and armoured cables valued at N36 million.

Police alleged that trouble started for the defendants when they allegedly maliciously damage their employer’s office keys to gain entrance into the company’s garage to allegedly steal the cables.

Following the development, the complainant reported the matter to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO incharge of Lion Building Division, who swiftly directed his men to trace the defendants and arrested them.

After investigation by Inspector Nnamdi Majeka and his team, the defendants were charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court sitting at the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

Police Counsel, Reuben Solomon told the Court in the charge marked P/2/2025 that the defendants committed the offence on 11 January, 2025 at the Shipping Company office located at Marina, Lagos.

Solomon informed the court that the defendants betrayed their employer and stole its armoured cables valued at N36 million after office closing hours before they were arrested.

He said the offences the two defendants committed were punishable under sections 411, 360 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2025.

The defendants, however pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate O.A Wahab granted them bail, adjourned the case till 27 February 2025 for mention and ordered that the defendants be detained at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility till they perfected the bail conditions.
