“Following the successful introduction of the computerized ranking system, the monitoring of the performance of players remains a critical objective of the Alliance and the introduction of an award is an evidence of fulfillment of the objective as outlined in the vision and mission statement of the Snooker and Pool Players Alliance” the President of the SPPA  Joachim Idada said.
The award will also spur the players to be competitive according to Idada “We are hopeful that an award of this nature will improve the sporting value in Cue Sports, thereby motivating more players to show greater commitment to these greater which currently is regarded as a leisure activity”.
Nigeria has a huge population of Pool players with 8 ball Pool been the most popular type as it is available in many bars and street corner.
Meanwhile, the SPPA has received an invitation from the ICEA, International Chinese 8ball Pool Association to participate in the maiden edition of the Chinese 8ball Pool World Cup hold in Durban, South Africa from the 24th -29th March, 2020.
