After different ugly twists to the election into the Weightlifting Federation of Nigeria , Lewis Okoro, leader of the South West delegate to the election in Abuja has declared that nothing will change the fact that Tony Okowa remain the President of the Federation based on the election conducted on Thursday at the Abuja national stadium.

Speaking to the sporting media in Abuja , Okoro said the stakeholders in the weightlifting federation were prepared to cast their vote as directed by the appeal  committee’s decision that the election of  June 13 at the same venue was annulled due to irregular use of ballot papers for the election and other abnormalities.

The former weight lifter further said that after it was announced that the election was suspended earlier on Thursday, the stakeholder held their peace and when it was also announced again that the election would hold later in the eveningthey had to regroup themselves again at the stadium.

Unfortunately , the electoral officers refused to show up and they decided to go ahead and subsequently elected Tony Okowa as their President.

Lewis Okoro of weightlifting federation

“We can’t be dribble anyhow as if we are kids. We have followed all the due process by coming from our different bases in the country for this election and we have eventually held and elected Tony Okowa as the President of Weightlifting Federation of Nigeria,” Okowa said angrily.

In a similar vein, there was a commotion and show of shame as stakeholders in Gymnastic Federation insisted on not having any re- election as they insisted that the election that elected Prince Kelvin Ehizojie as an opposed candidate for the position of the President of the Gymnastic Federation of Nigeria remain unchanged.

“Election was held on June 13 and I was elected unopposed by the delegates and if they insisted that the mandate should stand , I don’t have any problem with that decision of the stakeholders in Gymnastics, ” Ehizojie said.
