The suspect, Sunday Okon

A 29-year old Sunday Okon has confessed that he turned to robbery after he lost his security job and went on to steal military uniform after his wife became pregnant so as to rob and raise money to take care of his family.

According to Akwa Ibom State-born Okon, he was forced to turn into crime because he was frustrated after he was sacked as a company security man and had to steal the military uniform to survive.

He also revealed the uniform was inside their house without his wife’s knowledge and whenever he wanted to go out for operation, he would secretly took it.
Okon was among the suspected criminals paraded this week by the Lagos Commissioner of police, Fatai Owoseni.
On the mode of his operation, Okon said he was using the uniform as a cover to snatch motorcycles from their owners and would sell them to a man he simply identified as Yemi at give away price.
The father of two also confessed that his operation was beyond Lagos State as he has been going to other neighbouring states to rob and thereafter come back to Agege, Lagos where he lives with his family.
He said it was not only motorcycles that he used to snatch but also involved in other criminal activities before his arrest.
He regretted his actions and said he did not knew he would be arrested one day because he was very careful in the way he had been operating. Unknowingly, the police has been monitoring his movement in his area in Agege over a period of time.
Okon was later arrested following a tip off by his neighbours.
According to police, when Okon was arrested, his house was searched and the military uniform was discovered in his wardrobe.

He was taken to the station for further investigation.
During the interrogation, he pleaded for forgiveness and said if he eventually regain freedom, he will never go back to crime as he had brought disgrace to his himself and his family.
While parading Okon, CP Owoseni said he will be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation.
