Every stage of this journey was turbulent. Never mind the regular smiles, they were largely smarmy for a better part of the time.
From surviving a bloody attack by unknown gunmen on the 31st of March at Isuofia Civic Centre, to the heart wrenching midnight news about Birnin Kudu – – Sly almost killed me when he broke that news of INEC omission of Soludo’s name.
A better part of our political communication bothered on checking internal malfeasance, and building the confidence levels of our supporters in the face of serial demoralising episodes.
Conversely, and quite surprising too, Soludo’s volte face and unbroken spirit made me appear grieving more than the bereaved. So, I braced up and oiled my resolve with the soothing balm of his therapeutic words. Soludo would always say to me, “Mazi, we will not only win this election, we will win landslide with a very wide margin”.
A quick flip to today and the days we sat in the Situation room and watched the figures pour in, I am most assured that in Soludo ndị Anambra have elected for themselves a stoic and an exemplary leader.
