A landlady in Lagos, Mrs. Augustina Abiola, was terribly shocked after she woke up in the morning and discovered that her 180 chickens, which kept in a cage, have died after her tenant, Okonkwo Kelechi, allegedly fed the chickens with feeds mixed with poisonous household insecticide popularly known as Sniper.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Alhaji Ganiyu Street, Ejigbo area of Lagos, where they reside.

The Police at Ejigbo Division led by CSP Olabisi Okuwobi have gone for the arrest of the suspect, Kelechi .

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspect and the landlady, Mrs. Abiola, had personal issues which might have led to the decision to wipe out the chickens from the compound. Though the Police did not state the kind of disagreement before the incident happened, the landlady was visibly thrown into shock and disbelief that she could lose the chickens worth N850, 000 at once.

It was gathered that the suspect, Kelechi, as a result of their disagreement, at night sprayed the substance on the feeds, fed the chickens, they ate and all died.
However, when the landlady discovered what happened, in the morning she confronted Kelechi but he claimed that he only sprayed the insecticide to kill bed buds in his house and he did not know it will kill the chickens inside the cage.
After investigation, the Police found Kelechi culpable and later charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace.
He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr. Simon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that Kelechi actually committed the offence since he pleaded not guilty.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.S. Okubule, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 14th October, 2019.
The incident caused serious attention in the area as the residents trooped to the compound to commiserate with the landlady, who was said not to have recovered from the incident.
