CYRIACUS IZUEKWE
A landlord, Mr. Oladimeji Ejalonibu has temporary vacated his house in Lagos after he had an encounter with his tenant, Mr. Igwe Uchenna, who allegedly threatened to mobilise members of a cult group to kill him.
P.M.EXPRES reports that the incident happened at Pipeline Street, off Governor’s Road in Ikotun, Lagos, where the landlord resided with the tenant.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the landlord was putting pressure on the tenant over house rent arrears which he owed and yet constituted nuisance in the compound by smoking Indian hemp which the landlord had advised him against doing such. Mr. Uchenna became angry and asked the landlord to count his days because he will soon kill him. He was said to have revealed that he belonged to a cult group known as Vikings and he would bring the members to snuff life out of the landlord.
Thus, the landlord was said to have become afraid, relocated in order to save his life and was not even talking about the rent arrears.
The matter was reported to the police at Ikotun Division; Uchenna was arrested and charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court for threatening to kill the landlord.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr. G. Simon did not oppose his bail.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 1st August, 2018.
