Some former Nigerian international football players have given their full support to, and hailed the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode on the creation of eight viewing centres spread  across the state for the duration of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Tournament.

The viewing centres were created by the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Sports Commission with supporting partnership from International Breweries Plc,  makers of Trophy Lager Beer, Hero and Budweiser for Lagosians to watch live football matches of the ongoing Russia 2018 World Cup.

Some of the former Nigerian ex internationals who met with the Executive Chairman and Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr. Kweku Adedayo Tandoh and Mr. Babatunde Bank -Anthony respectively and members of the Commission’s Governing Board on Friday disclosed that they were happy with what Governor Ambode did by approving the establishment of the viewing centres across the state for Lagosians to enjoy the World Cup.

Executive Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Tandoh stated that the Governor would always  honour ex internationals for their sacrifice for the state and the country, adding that they are never forgotten for what they have done.

Taju Disu, who is now the Supervisor for Agriculture,  Youth and Sports,  Surulere Local Government stated that the idea of the viewing centre is “fantastic, and I give kudos to the Lagos State Sports Commission for deeming it fit to facilitate this laudable project. Governor Ambode has done well and has surpassed what People think he can do”

Waheed Akanni, one of the ex internationals said they feel privileged to be part of the program tagged #mylagosmyfootball# spread across the eight viewing centres to support the Governor, also, appreciate him for being recognised as  commendable players.

Friday Elaho stated that the Viewing centres are a welcome development for them to come in, and thank the Governor for giving so much enthusiasm towards sports. “This is why you see all ex internationals coming together  to support the Governor’s initiative,” he said.

The World Cup viewing centres are located at Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Abesan Playground, Alimosho, Naval Barracks Ajegunle, Bishop Aggrey Youth Center, Mushin, Epe Recreation Center, Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu and Badagry Grammar School, Badagry.
