The trial of a couple, Obinna Arthur and his wife, Chinenye who allegedly raped, recorded friend’s wife at a popular hotel in Egbeda, Lagos and later posted it on social media over a N1.2million debt was stalled on Wednesday.
This was occassioned by the unavailability of the report of the Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP advice on the matter as directed by the court.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola has ordered the couple to be remanded in prison custody and directed the prosecutor to send the file to DPP for advice.
However, the matter could not go on over the unavailability of the DPP’s report and the court ordered them back to prison custody after they were granted bail and they failed to fulfill the bail condition.
When the matter was mentioned in the open court, the Magistrate remarked that the allegation was serious and requires DPP advice before the trial would go on.
He then adjourned the matter to 26 June 2017 for the report of DPP and possible trial.
