The Sabanov’s brothers display their doubles trophies won in the first leg of the Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis last weekend.
The final of men’s doubles in the second leg (Futures 5) of the Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship promises to be an exciting and interesting match as two sets of twins will be at each other jugulars for the coveted prizes and trophies at stake on Saturday.
The Croatian twins, the Sabanov brothers, Matej and Ivan, who are coming to Lagos for the first time, will face another twins from India, Chandril and Lakshit Sood in what tennis pundits who watched their semi final matches at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan on Friday said will be a tough duel and a record breaking fight, as since inception of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) approved pro circuit competition in Lagos, no match has been made up between twins like this one.
In one of the semi final ties, , the Sabanov brothers defeated the duo of Alexis Klegou of Benin Republic and Egyptian Sherif Sabry in straight set of 6-3,6-4,while the Sood twins beat the pairs of Egyptian Karim-Mohamed Maamoun and Ilija Vucic of Serbia in another straight set of 7-6(0),6-1.
The Sabanov brothers won the doubles in the first leg (Futures 4) last week and they are battle ready to repeat the same feat on Saturday. They had won six doubles titles in 2017 alone.
Meanwhile, Conny Perrin of Switzerland will pair Valeriya Strakhova of Ukraine against Tadeja Majeric from Slovenia and Tiffany William from Great Britain in the women’s doubles. The two finals will be played simultaneously from 10am on Saturday.
