Woman, 47, Docked For Inflicting Injury On Her Son With Kitchen Knife

A 47-year old woman, Mrs. Christian Success, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly beating and inflicting injury on her son, Samuel Christian, 13, with a mopping stick and kitchen knife. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Mrs. Success, has been arrested and charged for assault and indecent treatment of her son over her alleged conduct.

 

The incident happened at Rasaq Tijani Street, White House, Governor’s Road, Ikotun area of Lagos, where they reside.

 

According to the Police, the woman was said to have been maltreating the victim before the incident happened and the matter was reported to the Police in the area. She was then arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the State Command for interrogation over her alleged conduct.

 

After interrogation, the Police found her culpable and consequently charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged assault and maltreatment.

 

The charges read :

“That you, Christian Success ‘f on the 2nd day of February, 2025, at Rasaq Tijani Street, White House, Governor’s Road, Ikotun Lagos, did indecently maltreat your son, Samuel Christian ‘m’ 13 years old by beating him with mopping stick and kitchen knife and inflicted injuries on him and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 135 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT II: “That you, Christian Success ‘f, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did assault your son, one Samuel Christian ‘m’ 13 years old by beating him with mopping stick and kitchen knife and inflicted injuries on his body and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 173 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

However, she pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted her bail with surety, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
