Woman Arranges With Nurse To Sell Her Day Old Baby To Barren Woman

A 29-year old woman, Mrs. Mary Ogbu has been arrested for arranging with a nurse, Grace Braddick, 47 and sold her new born baby boy to a 45-year old barren woman, Maureen Okafor for an undisclosed amount of money.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the three suspects have been charged before a Lagos court for their alleged involvement in human trafficking under the Criminal code.

The incident happened at Kirikiri Town in Lagos where Mary was said to have delivered the baby without her  husband’s approval.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the whole arrangement among the suspects failed after Mary delivered the baby and lied to her husband, Mr Sunday that she lost the baby.

The suspicious husband did not believe her and insisted that Mary should produce the baby either dead or alive for him to see.

It was gathered that when Mary was not forthcoming with the baby, Sunday reported the matter to the police who went into investigation.

Mary was first arrested and her confession led to the arrest of the two other suspects.

The suspects were charged before Ogba Magistrate court for alleged conspiracy, stealing and human trafficking.

They all pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Davis Abegunde granted Mary and Braddick bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties in like sum, while Okafor was granted bail in the sum of N30,000 with one surety in like sum.

They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.

The matter was adjourned till 26 July 2017.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the rescued boy was handed over to the father, Sunday who they have planned to permanently deprive him the baby.

While the suspects were taken to the prison custody, Sunday sworn that his embattled wife, Mary will never return to his house because what she did was abomination.
