A housewife, Hauwa Audu, has been arrested for attempting to kill her husband, James Tizhe, by allegedly offering to pay a native doctor the sum of N100,000 and had already paid N7,000 deposit for abandoning her for 9 years.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Michika Local Government area, Adamawa State, where she hired the services of one Kwaji Tizhe, of Nkafa village, to carry out the alleged murder.

Mrs. Audu was charged before the Yola Magistrates Court for the alleged offence and subsequently remanded in the Correctional Centre, Yola town, Adamawa State.

The prosecutor, ASP Francis Audu, had told the Court that the defendant hatched a plot to eliminate her husband, James Tizhe and two others that included Maryamu Bugi and Bugi Walla by paying a cash deposit of N7, 000, to the assassin out of the sum of N100, 000, she had promised to pay, after killing those she had penciled down.

The alleged hired killer collected the cash deposit on June 3, 2022 and reported himself to the Police, which led to her arrest and prosecution.

However, it was gathered that Mrs. Audu paid the said money to Kwaji, to consult a native doctor on her behalf, in order to inflict paralysis on her husband, but not to kill him.

Her action was because of the husband’s failure to treat her as his wife. The husband was alleged not to share the same bed with her for the past nine years or provide good care for her as a wife.

The defendant was said to have accused Maryamu Bugi and Bugi Walla of murdering her daughter-in-law through witchcraft as a result of which she decided to take a revenge.

When Mrs. Audu was arraigned, she denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty before the Court.

The prosecutor,  Mr. Francis Audu, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.

Hence, the Presiding Magistrate, Mohammed Buba, ordered her remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice  and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned till 14th July, 2022, for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
